Practical Experience
David Calkins has extensive experience advising executives, providing legal and business counsel and managing business organizations. He successfully bridges the gap between Business and traditional Legal services by balancing the protection of legal interests with the achievement of business initiatives. He has maximized revenues, reduced costs, and mitigated risks on transactions, on-going relationships, and operations.
In his previous management roles, he created centers of excellence at the core of the business and managed teams of legal and marketing professionals. He is an avid proponent of the use of Collaborative Law in the settlement of commercial disputes where on-going relationships are important. He is a trained mediator (holding the necessary certificate for court appointment) and a workplace reconciliation agent. His career path includes a tour of duty as a Special Agent of the FBI as well as a licensed securities broker dealing in stocks, bonds, commodities, and insurance.
David is a home improvement, residential remodeling and energy conservation enthusiast. Because of these personal interests and skills, he has been able to assist "green" start-ups and contractors with business plans and legal issues.
David's office is located in Richardson, TX. He serves local clients in Dallas County, Collin County, Tarrant County, Denton County, and Rockwall County. He also counsels larger organizations and supports Collaborative Law education on a nationwide basis.
